menu referal

Postby curt y » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:26 pm

I have a main menu with 5 sub menus. In the sub menus there are 8 videos. I am getting stuck on a sub menu and can not figure out how to have a link to get back to a specific sub menu or main menu.

This occurs if the video plays out or if stopped mid viewing.

What term do I google to figure out what I need to be educated on?

Thanks.

Why Google when you've got us? (And, hey, if you had my book, you wouldn't even need to ask!)

Are you just trying to add a button to a sub-menu with a link back to your main menu?

To do that, just drag a button from the Buttons panel to your menu page (or click + Insert Button at the top of this panel). Then, with this new button selected in the Workspace, go to the Action page on the Button Properties panel and, from the Destination drop-down menu, select the menu page you want it to link to.

Just Google "Steve Grisetti"! :-D

I'm reading through his DVDAS book right now, as I'm creating my first really serious DVD menuing system. I can highly recommend it.

I am back. In a previous question months ago I asked to link a button on a sub menu to the main page menu. I did it then but now it does not work. Brain fog rolled in I guess.

"To do that, just drag a button from the Buttons panel to your menu page (or click + Insert Button at the top of this panel). Then, with this new button selected in the Workspace, go to the Action page on the Button Properties panel and, from the Destination drop-down menu, select the menu page you want it to link to".

I clicked on parent menu but when I go to button the "broken link" re-appears. The weird thing is the destination item and button are both labeled n/a. Changed Destination Link to Start, but that did not stick either.

Where am I going wrong?

Have you selected the button in the Workspace and then used the Destination setting on the Button Properties/Action panel pane to set the page you want it to link to, as described in the section you quoted above?

And what did you select from the drop-down as your Destination?

If you selected a menu page, then you should not see a broken link.

Can you post a screen capture of the software with the button selected and the Destination set in the Button Properties menu?

Here is a screen shot. I have selected "parent menu" but the screen save does not show it.

When I exit action it reverts to broken link. Also if I try to set destination item to Start it reverts to n/a when I leave that spot.

Yes, your Destination is set to Broken Link.

Have you dropped down that menu and selected the page you want to link it to?
