DVD output file format

Postby curt y » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:58 am

Ran my first test DVD. The source video files were .avi (H264), .wmv, and .mov just to see how it would work. Had no glitches, so it rendered them all and DVD plays.

Looking at the disk files in Windows Explorer I see the output video is .vob files. According to the web this is just a wrapper of video and audio.

Is this the normal output for DVD Architect?

Wanted to know what the files were converted to, assuming .mpeg2, but don't see how to get beyond the .vob wrapper.

As you can tell I am pretty new to this stuff. Can someone put me on the right track?

Thanks

Yes, a .vob file is basically an mpeg2 file, they are 1GB chunks, that is why you have a few of them and it is a "standard" for DVD.

From "wiki"... A VOB file (Video Object) is a container format in DVD-Video media. VOB can contain video, audio, subtitle, menu and navigation contents multiplexed together into a stream form. VOB is based on the MPEG program stream format.
