I would not be interested in a program that limited my creativity to just a stock set of "pieces," gathered onto a Menu, that I could only change the background.

You can also edit the buttons or create a button graphic of your own to use in the project.
The navigation and actions of the buttons are customizable. You can also change the color change of the button as it is selected.

I can't imagine needing anything that DVDAS doesn't support.

Thanks to you and Chuck Engels for words of welcome. :-D

Bob wrote:That's a nice feature, but I suspect it is a feature of DVDA Pro version 5 rather than DVDA Studio version 4.5. The Studio manual does not contain the layers naming convention that you mentioned. Or, any information about using a layered PSD as a menu. Perhaps it's undocumented? Themes appear to be Studio's preferred way to distribute menu templates.

Yes, it's not surprising that Studio's feature set is less capable than the Pro version, and it's a problem in forums where it's not always clear which version is being discussed. As the topic of this thread doesn't mention 'Studio', my assumption was that posters were, at least initially, talking about the pro version, which used to be known simply as DVD Architect. Starting with DVD-A 4.5, (I think) Sony added the "Pro" to make a distinction between the two, but forum users aren't always specific, leading to uncertainty.
There are free menu templates in the complementary products section and many more in the subscriber area.

Thank you for pointing this out. I should have looked there before asking, as I did stumble across these last night after submitting the post. Looking at one of the .psd files, it appears that it could be adapted to use with DVD Architect (Pro!) by changing the layer names to match DVD-A's specs.

Thanks, Steve. I, of course, recognize you from the SCS forums. Actually, I'm fairly well up-to-speed with DVD-A, having used it since version 2. Don't know everything about it, of course, but am quite comfortable with it.

This is a new foray for me, because I formerly didn't have software that would create .psd files with named layers. That's why I was attracted to this thread.

This is, BTW, a great site! You've done a magnificent job putting it together.

I'm sure "you've" is meant to be plural, since what makes this site great are the contributions of so many generous people.

Since Sony started bundling DVD Architect Pro with Vegas Pro and only sells DVD Architect Studio as a stand alone product, we mainly run into DVD Architect Studio users. Although, we do have some members with Vegas Pro. Most topics do reference the product as DVDAS or DVD Architect Studio -- this one didn't.

Hi Guys... I am presently working on .PSD menus and Buttons for use in DVDA.. once I am up to speed with it all I will be recording a few tutorials to help others to get to grips with constructing their own custom Photoshop Menus for use in DVDA...
