DVD Architect Studio scene markers

Postby stanatou » Mon Jun 15, 2009 10:56 am

I'm using the trial version of DVDAS and here's what I have so far...

menu_structure.jpg

So I have a main menu with 3 buttons-- 1st button 'Plays All', 2nd button jumps to sub-menu of concert sections, and 3rd button jumps to sub-menu of all the songs. A concert section will have 3 - 7 songs and I'd like to be able to be able to navigate within the section using the 'Next' button. For example, on the sections menu I'll select HiSchool Band and that section will start playing the first song. After the first song I want to skip over to the 5th song without having to do the fast forward thing...I just want to click 'Next' until I get to song 5. How do I go about this?

Any and all help and hints will be appreciated,
Stan

Not yet...but it's one of my Father's Day 'hints' along with stuff for the workbench in the garage. I guess if it's in the book that means it can be done so at least there's hope. [-o<

Hi, Stan--

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, when you're saying you'd "like to be able to navigate within the section using the 'Next' button".

If you're saying you want to rig your Concert 1 video to jump to Concert 5 when you click the Next button that's possible. But I don't think that's what you're looking for.

If you just want to shortcut from cut to cut, you can do that by using the Chapter Advance on your DVD player. Most DVD players will even display all of the chapters so that you can skip from one chapter to another in a single click.

Is that more like what you want?

There are also ways to create what are called playlists. These can be set to play only the segments you want and in the order you want them to play.

Am I getting close to what you're looking for?

Steve, he wants to be able to play a concert and use the next button on the remote control to skip to another song in the same concert -- your second scenario. To use the remote to skip, he needs to define the chapters by setting a scene/chapter marker at each song location. There is a limit of 99 scene/chapter markers per video in DVDA Studio.

Yes, Bob, that's what I'm trying for. But, if I put a scene/chapter marker at each song, won't I get menu buttons for each? I want buttons only for the concert sections (i.e 5th6th Band, JrHigh choir, etc). Is there a way to delete the button and leave the marker?

In Encore that would be a Chapter Playlist, one chapter button but multiple chapter markers.
I would think that DVD Architect would be able to have markers that allow you to skip to various places on the DVD but not have a button attached to it.

Bob's method would create a master play button and a set of scene buttons -- which sounds like what Stan wants.

It's working the way I wanted now :TU: ...hopefully I'll be able to remember what I did that made it work. On to the Songs menu...

Hello.

Rather than start a new thread, I'd like to ask a question in this one, since it's about scene markers.

I'm working on a new project, and am having difficulty renaming the very first scene/chapter marker that already exists, by default, at the beginning of the timeline. I have a total of ten chapter markers in the project, and when I preview it, the first chapter says 1: SCENE/CHAPTER, which, of course, I'd like to change.

All of the other chapters are looking good, and the menu navigation looks good and works, but it's that very first chapter marker that is bugging me.

Is there a way to edit that very first chapter marker that is automatically put in by the software at the start of the timeline?

I haven't figured out how to do that, or if it's possible.

Thank you! Jd

Jd, I ran across the same problem and to be honest I forgot how I did it! I think I may have just moved that marker further down the timeline (or deleted it), and added a new marker of my own at the start. But that sounds kinda crude, doesn't it!
