Hi, videocrater. Welcome to Muvipix!

That cam is absolutely compatible with Premiere Elements 9, video. What problems are you having?

You should be able to start a new project (Making sure you select the HDV project settings) and then use Get Media/From HDV Camcorder to capture your video over a FireWire connection.

If you're having trouble interfacing with the camcorder, it may be related to your system or your operating system. Can you tell us about your hardware and operating system?

Welcome to Muvipix :wcm:
Lots of HV20 , HV30 and HV40 owners here including me.
No problems at all and as a matter of fact this is by far the best camcorder to use with Premiere Elements.
Capture is done in real time via a Firewire connection as Steve mentions above.

Lots of folks here to help if you have questions or problems.

MiniDV camcorders like the HV30 are what Premiere Elements supports by default, natively.

Have you selected the proper camcorder under Device Control from the Capture screen?
What project setting did you use? If you are trying to capture standard definition from the HV30 you need to change a couple settings on the camcorder first, need to make sure that DV Lock is on. If you have started a 1080 30i HDV project then it shouldn't be a problem. You won't probably see a preview while you capture, that is a fault of the program.

You can also capture HDV over FireWire into a Premiere Elements project set up for HDV.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by "It won't go in"? When you click on Get Media/From HDV Camcorder, does the capture screen open?

Can you capture from that camcorder into iMovie?

I'm sorry, Videocreater, I've no idea why it's not working for you.

With that camcorder, a FireWire (not USB) connection and an Intel Mac with Premiere Elements 9 installed on Snow Leopard, your capture should go perfectly. (It is an Intel-based Mac running OSX 10.6, right?)

There must be something in your set-up that is not obvious that's negatively affecting things. But I'm just not sure how to troubleshoot it on this forum. Sorry.

You should capture, not import, your video using Get Media/From HDV camcorder.

But first click on the Apple menu in the upper left of your computer screen and select About this Mac. It sounds like you may need to confirm that you've got an Intel processor and you're using OSX 10.6 or greater.
