Component Activation does not stick.

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 9.

Component Activation does not stick.

Postby Gerlinde » Sat Dec 11, 2010 5:22 pm

I imported some mixed format video clips into a project. Some came from a phone and had the .3gp extension and some were .mp4s. I was prompted to activate the necessary new components via a link provided and a code # to paste into a window to generate a activation code. Everything went without a problem. But now, every time I reopen the project, a little window pops up, informing me >>Activating Component. Then Windows User Account Control opens and ask me for permission to let Microsoft (C) Register Server make changes to the registry, and it does that for each component I activated.
Is that normal? Should it not stick at some point? :-k
I have saved the project repeatedly, that has no effect on the situation.

The registry UACC prompt is probably normal. It depends on where in the registry the keys are being written. It appears as if the registry is only being temporarily updated. Some registry locations need the application to be running as an administrator in order to permanently update. I don't know if that's the case here, but try this: right click on the shortcut you use to launch PrE9 and select "run as administrator" and click on yes to the prompt that follows. Open the project and let it activate again. Close the project and exit PrE9. Relaunch PrE9 normally and load the project. Does it still give you the UACC prompt?

Hi Bob, as always....YOU found the solution. I had to start and close the program 3x until it finally stopped asking me. It did not automatically update the shortcuts to open the program. I had to right click each individually and set it to Run as Administrator. How weird.
Thank you so much for your help!
