Neural filters Photoshop

Postby momoffduty » Wed Oct 27, 2021 4:25 pm

The neural filters in Photoshop has a colorize. Tried it quickly and was surprised how well it performed. It got the hair, eye, and dress color correct. I made a couple quick corrections inside the filter. Not perfect, but a very good starting off point to colorize a photo.

Very nice, Cheryl!

Photoshop Elements has a similar colorize tool. My results have also been pretty good -- although a lot depends on the context of the picture. Portraits come out very well. Mixed compositions like this don't look quite as natural, but still are pretty effective.

Wow that does look pretty good. Hard to believe so much "color" information is hidden inside a black and white picture.

Steve, I think that is a good starting off point in your photo. Maybe the mixed lighting is throwing the filter off?

That's pretty amazing. If I didn't know the backstory I wouldn't have thought any more about it. Would have assumed it was color to begin with.

I've spent hours colorizing old photos and was surprised the filter did this in seconds.

Still playing with the neural filters. A comparison of original, neural filter and my edit.

Thanks Steve. I haven't tried out the other neural filters. There are retouching filters.
