Topaz ReStyle & Photoshop Shake Reduction

Postby RJ Johnston » Tue Aug 23, 2016 12:06 am

I could never edit this photo of a poppy so it looked the way I wanted. It was taken in macro mode and hand held. Recently, I used Photoshop's Shake Reduction filter and Topaz' ReStyle plug-in on the photo. I think the edited version is finally looking better than the original. Can you tell the original from the edited version?

I found Topaz Restyle addicting. You can definitely get some good ideas from the 1000 presets. The plug-in can be used in Photoshop also on video that's been made a Smart Object. When exporting to video, it takes one to three seconds to process each frame on my machine. I take a long nap during processing.

This animated GIF is a 25% reduction of the before and after images. There are only 256 colors.

I like the gif effect. That is a pretty neat way to see the differences in the effects that were added.

Creative GIF to show the before and after! I find it is hard to get the luminance correct on flowers that are bright yellow, purple, or red.

I was about 12 to 15 miles away when I took this photo years ago of the San Francisco skyline, without using a tripod. The shot didn't come out too well. Thought I would try Topaz Restyle and Shake Reduction on it. Now it looks more interesting.

The animated GIF was created entirely in Photoshop, as you probably surmised.

It seems you have to move your mouse over the image to get it started.
