Premiere Elements 8 patch coming

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 8.

My impression is that practically no one here is using PRE8.

I have been trying out all the other editors on the market and I am not really happy with any of them. I am used to having a "real" editor rather than a toy.

So, is there a consensus as to the current viability of PRE8 since the patch was issued?

Isn't that what Adobe has turned PRE into, a toy?

Well, you could also say the same thing about the iPhone, most home computers and even the internet, Johnny!

Although, yeah, I'll definitely agree that attempts by Adobe to make the program more accessible to novices do also tend to hide most of the features that drew me to the program in early versions.

Sorry, JohnnyO. I have been using the trial version of several editors and I am losing track of the 'features' of each of them. I just finished a frustrating session with Movie Edit Pro - it is so weird to me! :pull: I had the same problem with Magix Audio Cleaner - powerful app but just plain weird to use. Somebody needs to send those guys to 'human' interface design (versus programmer).

I remember PRE8 having this very cumbersome organizer - but then so does MEP. Perhaps I was remembering the efficiency of PRE2 which I still use for DV-AVI editing. I am growing weary of testing all this stuff - and the trial periods are running out. :drunken:

Anyway, is anybody on this forum using PRE8 for getting real work done :?:

I started using PE8 but dropped it because of the very poor AVCHD performance. PE7 works much better for AVCHD and I am still using that.

Thanks Paul. I am now spinning. Can you tell?

Sometimes I even think about using free, simple apps like VirtualDubMod and multiAVCHD except for the fact that occasionally I may want to use a cross-dissolve or a page curl. Now I am running back to Vegas. Pick up the saga, if you must, on the Editors forum. 8-[

And I like my toys. For me I want a powerful editor with fun stuff in it. For me the video editor is a toy.

PRE8 did intrigue me regarding some of its new features. I just could not get it to work on my system.

I cannot speak though of PRE8 performance and reliability regarding the patch.
