Hey Ron, do we have an upload area yet? We probably need instructions for uploading the entries and thumbnails. The 19th is getting closer and closer, can't wait to see what comes in this year :)

Ok, my first thought was 'No way do I have time to do that'.... And then I got an idea. So now I'm posting here and hoping I come up with some time to get something together.

But I may end up in video court.

Whoa . .. can't believe I just now saw this! I will see if I can cook something up this year. Now that I think of it, I got tons of b-roll footage from a snowboard film that was holding a competition. Never did get around to finishing it before that competition ended, so maybe this will give me an excuse to finish.

Love video contests.

You will now see an additional album to upload your entries to - "2010 Muvipix Video Contest". Upload your video and thumbnail as usual to this album starting February 19, 2010. Please use JPEG format 100x100 px for the thumbnail. Also provide a short description and title for your entry.

Please understand that once your video successfully uploads, you will not see it again until public voting commences (April 5, 2010). You will receive a confirmation message that your video was uploaded and needs to be approved. If you're still not sure that it uploaded, post here and we'll double check it for you. Good luck everyone!

-Ron

Just a clarification request. Can you provide the optimal output settings for uploading our 2010 Muvipix contest entries for the following:

4x3 SD =
16x9 SD =
16x9 HD =

I would assume these can all accomplished with a Flash output from my NLE. I have tried using the MPEG4 H264 codec, but the file is larger than the 60mb upload limit. I am not sure what bit rate to use and still keep a good quality.

One of my favorite things to do is to be able to answer my own knucklehead questions. Sometimes it is fun to answer the question in third person. I just realized that in Premiere Pro when you pick an output selection, the bottom of the screen gives you an estimated file size for the selected output file. As you make adjustments to the bit rate it updates the estimated file size….Yeah.

I tried to upload last night but the server must have been busy because after I clicked continue the hourglass kept running until it timed out… I will try again tonight.

Thank you to Ron...

Please bear with me and my seemingly silly questions. I've only uploaded once, and it was a while ago. I just want to make sure that I upload correctly to the Gallery.

Exactly what type of file should I export from Premiere Pro CS4? I think it should be a FLV, but there are many options. What pixel dimensions and type of FLV should it be? Is there a specific codec? Does one pass or two pass vbr make a difference, since it's only for web viewing?

I see the upload limit is 60 Mb from a previous post here. Is that correct?

What type of file should the "brief description" be (Word, Notepad, etc)?

I understand that the thumbnail is to be a 100 x 100 pixel JPEG.

Do I upload one folder with the video, thumbnail, and description in that folder, or how is that done?

Thanks for your patience  ...

Here are my settings I used for last year's contest uploads:

WMV
640x480
2 Pass Encoding
Square Pixels
Bitrate about 1,134 (lower this if too big of a file)

Upper left of the Adobe Media Encoder:
Output Tab - check box to Deinterlace

Ron should be around shortly to answer the rest of your questions Peru :)
I'm not even sure about that end of things myself.

Yes.

Peru wrote:What type of file should the "brief description" be (Word, Notepad, etc)?

There's a text box when uploading to accommodate this.

Peru wrote:I understand that the thumbnail is to be a 100 x 100 pixel JPEG.

Yes.

Peru wrote:Do I upload one folder with the video, thumbnail, and description in that folder, or how is that done?

Just upload the video and the thumbnail to the same container (you'll see the container when uploading marked 2010 Muvipix Video Contest).
