Everything sounds great ....except...the 2 min amount. I think it should be changed to at least 3 min if not 4 min. Not sure how many people have been working on their entries, but I used last year's guidelines on the time since there weren't any guidelines posted for this year. I have 2 projects that are over the 2 min. One I could probably cut down, but the other would not work. Already put in at least 100 hours on the 2 combined, probably more than that.

Last year's:

Good luck everyone. Serious prizes!

Question already (sorry):
PE Only. How only is that. For example can you use the Luce plugin. What about Photoshop elements? MS Paint ? or is it ONLY what you get on a PE install and nothing else?

Thanks

Chris.

Sorry Cheryl but the rules are the rules and they are now posted and can't be changed.
This took a lot of time and discussion to get these rules together and it was agreed that once posted they would not be changed.

This is a contest, it should cause people to be creative, inventive, work through problems and over all stretch themselves.
Figuring out how to cut your projects down to 2 minutes is a good challenge :)

The prizes are big and there are plenty of them - best of luck to all the entries!

Hi Chris,
Premiere Elements only means that the entire project has to be done within Premiere Elements.
You can use a plugin that can be accessed within Premiere Elements, such as the WAX plugin but other than that no outside software is allowed.

Photoshop Elements would be external/outside software and cannot be used, this is Premiere Elements only - that is the challenge.

For the first category you call it mini movie/music video. A music video doesn't always have a definite plot. I have a video/slideshow that is apple picking which I could consider a music video but not a mini movie as it is just a recreation of a day of apple picking.

Would that be a fair entry under music video.

I plan to rework it as well as a slideshow only.
Happy Editing,

Beth

I respect your decision. Not entering to win, just for the fun of it. I am a little emotionally attached to one of the projects and my first thought was that I wouldn't dare cut up the 'baby'. If I am able to salvage it, is it okay if I post a 'director's cut' after the contest?

Again, I respect your decision. :)

Hi Beth, part of the challenge is that the entry must tell a story and have a plot, whether it is a music video or a mini movie.
If an entry in this category does not tell a story or does not have a plot (telling a story and having a plot are kind of the same thing anyway) then it will lose points.
Basically the story must have a beginning, middle and ending. Don't make this harder than it really is :)

Just to be safe: On the Premiere Elements Only:

Can you use items from Muvipix? Guess you can't resize or cut out anything in Photoshop?

You can use items from Muvipix but will need to resize them in Premiere Elements.
You can use existing graphics or images, all the work however must be done in Premiere Elements, quite the challenge when you think of it.

Gotta find my In a Snap book really quick.. I think it is hiding behind all the girl scout cookies. I probably need to get a gallon of milk and start clearing out those cookies so I can read up on whatever it is I am trying to accomplish. Now that's a challenge. :-D
Go out and make it a great day. The choice is yours!

You're Welcome. The 2 min. thing caught me completely off guard. Come to think of it, may scrap fixing the entry and go with a 'roast' type thing. :-D Just kidding, maybe next year!

A couple more questions, please:

Can you enter 2 projects in 1 category?

The 30 and 60 sec time, does that mean no 33 sec or 45 secs? Is this like a commercial where the networks sell only 30 or 60 sec spots? Which this would be a good challenge.
