The Sad Tale of the 4k monitor

Postby sidd finch » Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:20 am

I recently got my hands on a 4k monitor to checkout and see if I liked it enough to purchase. Hooked it up and WOW pristine video and everything looked great the colors the sharpness yesss.... Checked it with some 4k video I created and it was clear as a bell much much better that my prior monitor..... And the...... Yep there is always a fly in the ointment....

I bet premiere is gonna look great....... NOPE. It seems in their wisdom Adobe did not introduce scaleable UI for font until a recent edition of creative cloud. So all the fonts looked like they were about a .2 size font. There is no way around this. I am already blind enough but even a pair of cheap Walgreen's glasses does not help......

Well back to the drawing board.... :conf:

I just replaced my aging Samsung 1280 x 1024 monitors with a Dell U2717D. Have a look at that one. Perfect for me at any rate.
AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.

Thank you John, I will check this out. I was really dissapointed by not having a scaleable UI from PRE Pro.

Try setting your monitor resolution at 2560 x 1440. I'm doing well (with readers) in Resolve 15 at that setting.

If I didn't know where things are I'd be in trouble with Photoshop CS6.
Whatever you do, don't set your coffee cup adjacent to your turps cup. :CS:
