Basic Training with Premiere Elements

Postby Steve Grisetti » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:27 am

Looking for a good, general overview of Premiere Elements?

Our new, free eight-part tutorial series walks you through the whole process -- from creating a project through sharing your final video.

It's a great introduction to the program!

Wow, Steve .. that looks great. Even though I know most of the basics, everytime I watch the tutorials you guys provide, I learn something new that always makes it worthwhile. And these are freebies. That's a double wow!! :-5

Thanks, Jayell!

I hope to create an intermediate series next for our subscribers for our next month's products release. Maybe you'll pick up a few tips there too!

That would be great, Steve! I took the Lynda.com video tutorial on V7, but was wishing they had an intermediate course. There's so many tips and tricks and tutorials available here, but it's really helpful to have it all in one place, where you can just step through it, like the above overview series. Hopefully it'll be on V7, rather than the controversial V8 ;) .. or at least point out where differences might occur.

If everyone would take a look at the tutorials and let us know what they think that would be a huge help.
Are they too basic? Are they missing anything that should be included in a basic training tutorial?
What's good and what's bad, what do you like or not like about them?

THANKS :TU:

I ran through them yesterday and only wish I had had the opportunity to view them before I learned by trial and error. I learned that the diagonal lines in the transition bar really mean something which makes me wonder about how much else I am missing. Basic is basic and I don't think they are too basic. Thanks very much for all the work that went into producing them.

I am looking forward to the Intermediate level that Steve mentioned.

Hi Steve and Chuck,

I've watched the first four tutorials and I think they are excellent. Steve's tips elevate the material to a level above basic (I keep a notebook where I jot down editing tips from the tutorials and other material at this site, as well as from the guidebook by Steve that I own, etc.). I like that each clip is short, one reason being that their brevity facilitates watching clips more than once, should I find that necessary. To be able to watch the action as Steve explains what he's doing is the next best thing to having an instructor right beside you.

Anyone who, like me, tends to feel overwhelmed whenever they open Premiere Elements and begins to work with it, will surely appreciate these tutorials. They make a nice complement to the Premiere Elements section of Steve's Muvipix dot com Guide to Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements (I have the edition written for version 7 of the software, and though I have switched to version 8 of the software, the book is still enormously helpful).

Thanks for creating these tutorials, Steve, and for making them available for free!

Happy Holidays, Jim

Hi Steve,

New to the site since picking up Pre 7 Guide for Christmas. Great book and great site! I've been playing around with video and digital eding for quite a while. Even so, found several great tips in basic training that I've been missing. Great series and looking foward to getting to know the site and the community in 2010.

Happy New Year.

I had a chance to look these over, skipped around. Very good Steve! And free? I have learned a lot from the other tuts, but this series walks the user thru a project to DVD. I think you took all of my 101 questions my first year here and made the tuts.

Loved each and every chapter of the Basic Training, Steve... you did a great job. It makes me want to dive in and play with the program...once I figure out what version to pursue! :)

Your tutorials are very much appreciated. =D>
