Propably a dumb beginners question re track 1

Dumb question? But how do I move the whole sheebang from track 1 to 2?

Probably easiest way is to go to the "More" at the top right of the Timeline and select "Add track"... and select "Below" or "Before" last track... or something like that.
Alternatively click on an empty part of your timeline and then lasso all the clips and just drag them all up.
