auto loop?

Postby Cinde » Thu Mar 08, 2007 1:39 am

I'm almost ready to burn my first DVD. I have already found the information to make it an auto-play DVD in both the help menu and "In A Snap" (Thanks Steve and Chuck)

Now I need to learn how to make the dvd auto loop. If all goes well one of my customers will be a funeral home. I want them to be able to turn on the TV, insert the DVD and let it run continuously by itself until they are ready to turn it off.

How can I accomplish this?

You can not do this in PE. You can set the DVD player to auto repeat.

OR:
Robert J. Johnston offers this solution, using free software called PcgEdit.
1. Create a short project (for starters) without a menu and "Burn to Folder."
2. Start up PgcEdit.
3. Click "Close" on the first dialog box that appears.
4. From main menu select File - Open DVD.
Navigate to the Video_TS folder created in step 1 and press OK.
5. Click on the third item in the left panel. It should be VTST 1,1.
6. Click on "post commands" in the right-hand panel.
7. Right-click on "post commands" and select "Add after."
That creates a "NOP" entry.
8. Double-click on the "1 NOP" entry.
9. Select "Jump and Call" - "From VTST Title" - "To Same VTST Title" - "LinkPTT" and then click OK.
10. From main menu select File - Save DVD.
11. Exit PgcEdit.

Still struggling

Postby Cinde » Thu Mar 08, 2007 4:02 pm

Paul, thank you for your response and suggestion of "Robert J. Johnston offers this solution, using free software called PcgEdit" (which I had also found in the FAQ file). However after the horror of still struggling with the mess I made with DebugMode Wax Plugin, I'm not quite comfortable downloading anything else right now.

As for setting the DVD player to auto repeat, that would be a good idea for the funeral home itself. But I'm afraid it might not work with people who receive copies to take home. My 80-year-old mother would be a good example. She can insert a DVD but has no clue what to do with it after that.

I'll post an update to the DebugMode thread later today.

I still need help. Paul and others, please don't give up on me...

Cinde, Are the people going to want the DVD to repeat at home do you think? An Auto Play DVD is very simple, put it in and it plays no menu to fool with or anything, very simple for people like Grandma :)

The funeral home did a DVD for my Mother's funeral and they set the DVD player to repeat. We all took a copy home, I have not watched it at home yet.

Thanks for the tip. I made use of it for a video that will show later today. I do not have time to post now, but the directions do not seem to quite line up with the current version of PgcEdit. It seems they have made some interface changes. However, it was close enough that I could figure it out. Thanks again to you and Robert.

Regards,
-Vernon
