Memorial Backgrounds

Postby ridon127 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 11:09 pm

Do you have a motion background that would be nice for a memorial? I would like to make a new DVD in memory of my Mom. No hurry as I haven't even started it yet. Thanks for all the new goodies.

We can definitely add it to our to-do list, Donna.

Meantime, if you're looking for a background for a DVD menu, you might be able to create your own, if time is of the essence.

Try gathering a dozen or two photos on a table and sort of spread them out so that you can see parts of several and all of some and photograph that. Sort of like I did when I created my "Make an Amazing DVD Menu" Steve's Tip (you can see it on the sample page of the article).

Depending on what you are looking for there are tons of backgrounds that would work. Any of the Colored motion backgrounds or the Cross backgrounds are very nice, what did you have in mind?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

I really wanted something to open with. I am going to use the motion backgrounds and cross. I really don't know what I would like. You are the best creator. If you can do something, great, if not, it is no problem. There is so many great things in the members area. This is not something I am will be finished with before Christmas probably. I have to go back to work Monday and the kids will be back in school and dance so I will have to go back to being a fulltime Mom then so progress will be slow. I have been on a 3 week break so I have had a lot of time to work on my projects and come here and ask a lot of questions..LOL
Thank you for all you do,
Donna

Donna, I did the burning candle. It's not really a "motion" background. I found a candle as part of a larger pix. I used Photoshop Elements to crop to the candle leaving a transparent background. I did the same with the flame.

I exported the two into Premier, placing the candle on timeline video 2 and placed the flame on video 3. I used the the wave warp video effect on video 3 to make the flame look as if it is burning. I added a background to video 1 and added the person's pix to video 4. I time stretched video 1, 2 and 3 to cover the full length of all the individual pix on video 4.

I am glad you mentioned it because I went back to the Muvipix members gallery to view it again. That is the very first video I did. I am pleased with the progress I have made in the quality of final client videos since that very first one. It is in a big part due to the things I have learned on this board.

Maybe some information about the person the memorial is about would help, if you don't mind sharing.

You did a very nice job Cinde. Thanks for the details. I really liked the candle effect and figured it was a motion background u had downloaded somewhere.
Chuck, it is for my mom. She was a strong believer and loved the Bible and Jesus with all her heart and soul. When she passed she was talking to Jesus. She liked things very simple and lived a very simple life. She loved yellow roses and red carnations, the cross, and heavenly sunsets.
Is that enough? I could go on and on about my mom.
Thanks

I think Cinde's work was great, but I thought I'd share the beginning and ending of a memorial I did for my wife's grand mother. Just something more to give you ideas.

Bob D, now that I have dried my tears, I have to say that is the most moving memorial ending I have ever seen. The poem and effects are absolutely stunning!!

Is the ending background available for sharing with us here? I like it very much and would like to incorporate it into some of my videos.

Isn't this place great? Where else can we get feed back on our efforts, share ideas and resources, get answers to questions. And if all else fails... to quote Steve: "We can definitely add it to our to-do list."

Thank you Bob. I didn't read your reply very well and I sat there waiting for the whole video to play. I like what you did. I did one for her viewing and to see before the funeral. I threw it together in about 24 hours. I was not in the best frame of mind and there were mistakes in it that were not obvious to anyone but me. Everyone was very impressed with it and I got a lot of compliments but I knew it wasn't very good. Now I want to redo it and make it special for all my siblings. I have alot of ideas but getting them out of my somewhat functional brain to the computer is not that easy. I have learned so much from this forum and the book. I hope to be as talented one day as all of you are.
Thanks for sharing,
Donna

Cinde, You can get the Clouds (or at least very similar to Bob's) right here
http://muvipix.com/products.php?maincat ... bcat_id=10

There is a file with 7 Special Movie Effects toward the bottom of the page, it has clouds, flower, city, mountain and other stuff you can use in your projects :)

Bob that was a very moving ending, still have tears in my eyes. Thanks for sharing.

The 7 effects Chuck are great. Didn't even see those before. Think maybe I should take some time and window shop more in the products section. Is it possible to take the sandstorm video and delete the background? Thought this may be an easy way to get fog.

Cinde,

I'm glad you like it.

I looked around for the background clips of the waterfall and clouds. Much to my surprise I don't have them!
