Embedded Links in Posts...

Postby kodebuster » Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:14 pm

Was wondering when embedding a link within a post, if it was possible to have that webpage display into another window.

Just about every link that one jumps to within a post, leaves the Muvipix forum, and goes to that page.

It would be nice if the default was to open any link in a separate page, that way we always stay glued to the forum, for all the obvious reasons.

I'll check, as maybe there's a browser setting for this...
Intel i7Core Quad (i7-940) @ 2.93 Ghz, 12gig Mem 1066 MHz , 1gig Nvidia GeForce, 1TB HDD with Raid 0 (2x500), 3TB Storage
PE7, Vista-64, Sony DCR-DVD305 (MiniDVD)

If everything seems under control, then your just not going fast enough ~ Mario Andretti.

You're absolutely right and I agree.

I put it on my list to investigate if it's feasible, thanks.

Ron, I dont think it's a browser setting, but something that may be configurable within the forum software for Muvipix.

Reason why I say this is cause another Forum that I visit often, will usually display embedded links to a new page.

The forum in question can be viewed here: http://ogaugerr.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x

This particular forum is powered by "Eve", versus "phpBB" which Muvipix uses.

Just food for thought, as we all agree, if we can stay glued to Muvipix, it will make the surfing experience easier to navigate...

Work around using Firefox/2.0.0.11 - Right click on link, choose "Open Link in New Tab"

I use it all the time because I simply can't bear the thought of navigating out and losing the original Muvipix topic. [-(

Right click on link, choose "Open Link in New Tab (or Window)"

Yup, same thing works in IE6 and IE7, so this is good work around, for those who are aware of it.

Hi,
I ran into this same discussion on another site. One of the things recommended was to hold down the shift key when you click the link. It works

estherlouise, shift+click does work, it opens the link in a new window.

I like opening a new tab of the current window. Guess I'm a tabby kinda gal... img0206

Ron must have done something. So far every link I click on (left click) opens a new window. Exceptions are links to articles in Muvipix and when I clicked on Jack Falbey's web site link.
