PE7 doesn't perform on XP user profile with limited rights

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 7.

PE7 doesn't perform on XP user profile with limited rights

Postby RalphSchneider1 » Tue Sep 07, 2010 9:55 am

I am running PE7 in a computer lab in Win XP user profiles with limited rights. However, PE7 seems not to perform as well in user profiles as if I run it in the admin profile. E.G. the capture window stalls when opening, which doesn't happen on the admin profile.

Has anyone experiences with running PE7 in an XP user profile with limited rights? Any adjustments in the settings that could help?

I think most people have found Premiere Elements needs to be run under a profile with admin rights, Ralph.

Thank you! Is there any more specific information about this (e.g. why admin rights are necessary)? I will have to present arguments to the IT people if I propose to give students admin rights...

I'm not a deep programmer so I can't say, Ralph. All I know is that, in my experience, you need to have admin rights in order for the program to run.

Hope that helps!

That may be a good thing to call Adobe about, maybe they have a way around this for educational purposes.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Thanks! I called Adobe and they said, in general it would be advisable to use full rights. They wouldn't deliberately say that I MUST use admin rights, though. But I have the impression that it is this way.

I know it needs to run at least once with admin rights. Try running it once in an account with admin rights to allow it to write its registry entries and then see if you can then run it in an account on the same PC without admin rights. I don't know if that will work or not, please let us know.
