plug-in or technique to boost audio of video clip

Postby anue » Thu Jun 10, 2010 12:40 pm

Greetings,

I'm trying to boost the volume of a clip on which my voice sounds soft compared to the clip that follows; I tried adding layers of volume through the Effects tab; I also experimented with Balance and all of the other Audio Effects. Nothing worked.

Are there any techniques, plug-in or freeware I can use to boost the volume?

Thanks,
Antoinette

HI, Antoinette!

The best results will come from raising the Audio Gain.

To do that, right-click on the clip on your timeline and select Audio Gain. In version 7, you can click the Normalize button and it will automatically raise the gain level so you'll hear a fuller, louder, richer sound.

If you need to raise it even more, you can change the gain level numbers manually too.

You can also add the Volume (audio effect) as many times as you need to. Just drag the effect to your clip as many times as necessary to get the volume increase that you need. Be sure to select the Volume effect properties and raise it to the maximum for each instance of the effect to get the full audio volume increase.

I'd also remove your volume adustments before doing this, you can re-adjust the volume after the gain adjustment.
