trying to make tutorials using PE 7

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 7.

trying to make tutorials using PE 7

Postby chooks » Fri Apr 02, 2010 5:36 pm

I am trying to use windows journal and camtasia to make tutorials. I have been trying to save them as avi files and bring them into PE7. Problem is they look terrible in PE (even after rendering). If I play the raw camtasia avi files in windows media player, they look fine. problem is I want to edit them in PE. I went ahead and exported as AVI file from PE, the they still look terrible in windows media player.

I tryed using adobe captivate to record journal, but when I hit record, my menu bar dissapears and I dont know how to stop the recording!

hope someone can help

happy easter :albino:

I worked out pressing "end" key on the keyboard ends the capture in captivate. Just need to work out how to export it into PE :???:

What version of Captivate are you using?
Most of us use Camtasia but I did use Captivate when we first started. I only have version 1.
What editing do you want to do? You can edit the capture in captivate.

I agree with Chuck that any editing you do should probably be done in Captivate.

It doesn't likely produce editable video as an AVI -- at least not with a codec Premiere Elements can handle.

It must be a newer version of Captivate because it only used to export SWF and no other format.
You have to try and match the frame rate and resolution as close as possible to a Premiere Elements project setting. Otherwise you can get really nasty looking video. We are going over this same thing in another thread with a user that is doing screen captures with Snag it.

It would be best if you can edit in Captivate but we can probably get the video to work in Premiere Elements with a little work.
