4 Pin to Firewire Connection

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 7.

4 Pin to Firewire Connection

Postby Jim Squires » Tue Jan 05, 2010 11:09 pm

I have a Sony Digital HD Video Camera Recorder (Handycam). It has a USB Jack that is, I believe, a 4 pin. The computer has a firewall port. In reading Steve Grisetti's book on Adobe Premiere Elements 7, a Firewire connection is required to transfer files from the camera into PE 7. So - I believe I need an adaptor but am not sure what I should order. If anyone is able to advise me I would be very grateful.

Thank you,

Jim Squires

Jim,
Welcome to Muvipix. It would be useful if you gave us the model of your Sony Camera and pertinent info on your computer hardware. We could then try and help you a little better. For instance, do you have a firewire card/port on your PC? What is your free Hard Disk space? Do you have more than 1 drive? If so are they internal or external? How much ram do you have? What type of video card?

If you know the answer to those questions it will help a lot.

Regards,
-Vernon

Sony call their Firewire port the iLink. Does your camera have an iLink port? The 'Sony end' of the iLink (firewire) is proprietary so you will need a Sony iLink cable - should have been in the box with the camera.
