Since Premiere Elements version 3 they have just used the PAL templates for both NTSC and PAL projects.
Prior to that they did have separate PAL and NTSC templates. Having only one to deal with makes things a bit easier :)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. I haven't made a DVD yet, but I installed the templates and made a test project, and they seem to work fine so far.

While I was installing the templates, I noticed that a lot of the other templates that come with Premiere Elements seem to have PAL in the filenames. I don't know if this is some sort of naming convention, but for me it almost made me pass on trying the templates. I'm glad I asked, because this looks like a really useful template.

Do you think it might be worth renaming the files? Or, at least maybe mention that they work with both PAL and NTSC?

Anyhow, thanks very much for the info, and the templates!

Yes, it is a Premiere Elements naming convention. It's not arbitrary.

That's right. If you rename them, they won't work!

I didn't know that when I installed them -- so I already renamed them, and they worked!

I know this thread is in the PE7 forum, but I'm using PE9. Maybe that's why they are working for me? I just put a bunch more scene markers in a test project, and generated a web DVD, and the menus work just fine. I'm using standard resolution NTSC.

Here are my installed menu template filenames (I added the "&ntsc" portions):

18Scenes_hd_mm.psd>
18Scenes_hd_sm.psd>
18Scenes_pal&ntsc_w_sm.psd
18Scenes_pal&ntsc_s_mm.psd
18Scenes_pal&ntsc_s_sm.psd
18Scenes_pal&ntsc_w_mm.psd

NOTE: The funny-looking "&" character, above, is an ampersand. I don't know why it looks that way here (at least on my system, it looks pretty odd).

The part of the name that is important and can't be changed is the _w (widescreen) or _s (standard) and the sm (scene menu) and mm (main menu) and of course the .psd (has to be a photoshop file). Anything before the _w or _s can be changed.

I too would like to thank you for the new menu template. I just bought and installed PE9 and found out that they dropped the "generic one" menu that I've been using for years in PE3. I thought that I could just put the generic one folder from my PE3 "general" folder into the PE9 "general folder". The old PE3 menu shows up when I go to make a menu in PE9 and when I try to change the background image it appears as though all works fine, it does in the preview anyway, but when I burn the disc the menu shows up with the default background and not the one I changed it to. All the text that I modified changes just fine. Anyway I am posting this here because after searching for +install +dvd +template this is the most recent PE forum post I could find. I for one will be using your Template... a lot.
Thanks again!
