Encore Help

Postby garak0410 » Mon Nov 10, 2008 4:26 pm

I downloaded the Demo for Premiere CS4 and when trying to complete my project in ENCORE, I am just totally lost. Having been a long time user of Premiere Elements 3.02, I am used to DVD menu templates. Is ENCORE mainly for creating the menus or are there provided templates? I can't seem to find them.

Thanks,
Brian

Garak,

Glad you found Muvipix. Now, we just need to wait for someone, who knows the trial version of PP/Encore to step up with the answer. In the Adobe forum, I could only make guesses and these were based on reading, as I have never used a trial of any Adobe product. Wish that I knew more.

Maybe Chuck Engles can help out, as I know that he has CS3, and probably CS4 by now.

There is a Encore DVD project available here in the products section, it includes motion menus http://muvipix.com/products.php?subcat_id=36
I don't know if there are any templates included with the trial or not as I have never used them but I would think that there would be at least one.

You can use the Premiere Elements menus in Encore so you could start from there.
The menus are actually created in Photoshop (not elements), then you can make some minor changes in Encore.
You can also make some changes in Photoshop Elements but you cannot create the entire menu.
Encore is a DVD authoring program, not a graphics program.

It is really not too bad once you understand some of the basics.
Import Assets - video files
Import Menus - from Premiere Elements or other
And that is all you have to do to create a DVD in Encore, but there is so much more that the program can do.

The best form of training is http://www.lynda.com/ for $25 you can watch all the tutorials you can in 30 days, well worth the price :)
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Chuck,

Thanks for mentioning the use of some Assets (Menus) from PE. I had not even thought of that.

There are also Encore tutorials on YouTube that cover the basics and they may help get you started, but they won't necessarily be CS4.
AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.

Yes, Encore can be a bit tricky at first but as with Premiere Pro from PrEL it has a lot more to offer.

You can bascially set up your DVDs to navigate anyway you want and even throw in some easter eggs if you so desire.

There are many great tutorials on Encore including Lynda.com. I believe when you register your program you also get a free trial period at Lynda as one of your options. This is your best option.
Happy Editing,

Beth
