Can Premiere Pro (CS3) borrow from his little brother

Postby tjodork » Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:44 am

Hi, I just loaded CS3 and was playing with Premiere Pro...
what I noticed was that many of the fun/cool things in PE4 are not there
They include lots of effects on the titler and then normal effects (ie. NewBlue) etc?
Is it possible to copy some files to the PPro directories and take advantage of them ?
Thanks for any help.

I haven't missed anything in the way of effects, but you are right there are additional ones in Elements.
You can probably copy them from the plugins folder in Elements to the plugins folder in Pro.
I don't think anything is missing in the Titler, might just be located in a different place or that a window isn't open.

The Text Animation aspect seems to be feature not in CS2's Titler (do not have CS3, or the soon to be released CS4). As for various 3rd party Effects/Transitions, etc., some can be made to work in Pro. ProDAD's Adorage Transitions will work, with a bit of file re-naming and placement into the right folder in Pro. Could be the same, or similar with New Blue stuff.

There is an old article on the Adorage to Pro, that I'll try to find. I'll post that, as it might also offer insight into other 3rd party stuff.

As I do most of my Titles in Pro, or in PS, I probably have not explored all of the differences between PE's Titler and the one in Pro.

Since purchasing ProDad's Heroglyph I don't use anything else for Titles anymore, money well spent IMO.

There are a number of items in Premiere Elements that you will not find in Premiere Pro, it is a trade off.
There are many things in Premiere Pro you will not find in Premiere Elements ;)

The New Blue effects from PE4 can be copied to PPro CS3's plug-ins folder, but they are watermarked when you apply them in a CS3 project. You may have better luck with some of the others...

One really cool thing you can do with CS3 is copy & paste the Cycore effects plug-ins from AE to PPro... a few of them don't come through, but most of them do and it gives you many more cool effects that are applicable from within Premiere! does watermarked mean image is added to your output that you dont want or is it actually not visible?

The words "New Blue" appear across the image.

Oh yeah, I added those Cycore effects from AE and they are great.
Happy Editing,
