Facebook recommends H.264 video with AAC audio saved as .mov or .mp4. They also recommend 720p or smaller framesize. In the export dialog, assuming you are in an ntsc based country, select the H.264 format and choose the HD 720p 29.97 preset if high definition or the appropriate ntsc dv preset if standard definition.

Thanks. I am in a PAL region. What do I use? Also I did look at the Facebook recommendations and tried them. However, I still got distortion around the edges or even a short video did not download. Thanks

Doesn't matter whether you're using PAL or NTSC. You use the same formats and resolutions when uploading video to the web.

So Bob's suggestion will work no matter where you live or what video format you're shooting in.

I use the Vimeo preset for Facebook. Just use one of PAL presets that match your project settings. It is okay to use the 720p PAL preset even if your project is a larger size. The videos on Facebook do not look that good on its video page, but look okay smaller on the newsfeed page. Vimeo does a better job processing than Facebook.

EDIT: What is your project settings?
