I downloaded a jpg from the internet and checked its properties in Photoshop CS5.5 It said that it was "public domain" and was a Mac Photoshop CS3 file with RGB color space. I saved it as a psd and tried to bring it into Premiere Pro CS5.5 and it gave the generic import error. I tried importing the jpeg and it gave a color space error.
I opened the jpeg in Photoshop Elements 11 and it asked if I wanted to convert it. I clicked yes and saved it. I then saved it as a psd and renamed the psd to a more appropriate name for my project. I definitely did not change the file extension when I was renaming the file. The jpeg would import into Premiere Pro, but the psd would not.
I changed the name of the psd back to its original name that it was saved as. It would then import into Premiere Pro.
Can anybody explain why changing a file name would cause it to fail to import into Premiere Pro?
