What is the right preset I should use for YouTube HD Mobile

Postby MGadAllah » Mon Aug 26, 2013 3:40 am

Hello,
We are uploading a lot of Radio Broadcasting to YouTube for the new project.
I've prepared the image that will be used on each video and its dimension is: 1280x720.
The title of the show and episode will be written on the image as a title using premiere.
Then will add audio tracks as usual.
The question now is what is the export setting preset I should use?
I've found too many and realized that H.264 includes a lot usable preset for video websites.
For YouTube there are also too many.
Also there are some preset for tablet and phones.
I am thinking about using something make the video viewable under broad platform with no issues.
So which one I should pick?
Thanks

Hi, Mohamed. Are you asking about Premiere Elements 11?

If so, I recommend you use Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD with the preset selected for YouTube HD. When you load this file to YouTube, YouTube will optimize it so that it will be viewable on any platform.

No, we are using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.

You mean when it is starting to choose this one as shown in the below image:-

When I export media I've found this templates for YouTube already exist in the list as shown in the below image:-

Which one of those I should pick given that the image I've imported to PCS6 is 1280x720 and I want the uploaded video to be played in most mobile devices and tablets with no black bars around it.
Thanks a lot :)

I'm going to move this discussion to our Premiere Pro forum, where it will more likely be noticed by someone who can help.

I am still on version CS3 and I know the options and settings have changed since then, and I almost never upload to YouTube anymore. Doesn't anyone export video for upload to YouTube on a regular basis from a current version of Premiere Pro?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

The YouTube presets are divided into 4 categories: HD 1080p and 720p, and SD 480p and 360p. You said your background image will be 1280x720, that would correspond with one of the 720p presets. Most likely YouTube 720p 25 would be appropriate for Egypt and the Middle East.

Not all mobile devices support the same resolutions and frame aspect ratios. It is probably impossible to have one format that will display on all mobile devices without black bars. If you are producing audio with a static background and titles, you could get by with a smaller size such as YouTube 480p widescreen 25. You might try creating one of each and upload to YouTube as a test to see which is more suitable for your purpose.

Thanks for replying.
You think that resizing to a smaller image size would be a better option or it does not matter?

Since YouTube will resize the video, it comes down to whether you want to provide a hd version. With a still image background and titles, I'm not sure you would benefit significantly from hd. The smaller version would also process and upload faster. But, it's your decision. Try both, compare the legibility of the titles, and then decide.
