Possible to use Pre8 NewBlue Transition in Pro5?

Postby Margthecar » Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:29 pm

I am now using CS5, but still have PrE8 from before. I want to use a NewBlue transition from PrE8 that I see is not available in CS5 (Shake). I know I can buy it for CS5 but I really don't want to spend the money for a big package when I only want one or two transitions I already own. Is there a way to move the plug-in for use in CS5? If not, I guess it's back to PrE8! #-o

Probably not, but you could try to do it manually. Either it will work or it won't.

I did try copying the NewBlue folder into various folders labelled Common, Plug-Ins, and one other I can't remember for shared Plug-Ins, then restarted CS5 and browsed around the Video Transitions window, but I could not find them anywhere. If they are installed correctly, should they just suddenly appear in the list or is there more I have to do?

I have some free NewBlueFX and they are located here:-

C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Premiere Pro CS5/Plug-ins/en_US/NewBlueFX/

and they show up in the Effects panel. If it still doesn't work correctly a work around could be to edit the just those clips where you want to use the transitions in PrEl then export as.avi and import them into PPro.

Thanks for the path John, but it did not work. I guess the answer is no then. Suspecting this was the case, I have already started editing my thing back in PrE8, since this particular video uses the NewBlue transition alot but really no other special effects requiring Pro. Man it is slow and clunky! When using my own Font Style on Titles, I had to be careful to wait for each change before I clicked again or I crashed PrE8. And the timeline editing is not nearly as smooth and fast as Pro. I find this very interesting since Pro uses so many more computer resources than PrE8, yet runs so much more smoothly than PrE8. Go figure!
