Transitions before and after menu in Encore

Postby thhult » Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:09 am

Hi,
I have worked with a Encore-project for a long time without working as I want. (Case 1)
Eventually I found an alternative way that seems to be a solution (Case 2).

I have created a small test project consisting of 1 menu, 2 avi-files and a short video. The avi-files was created in After Effects, composition based on the menu and with opacity 0 - 100% (Menu IN) and 100 - 0% (Menu OUT).
In Encore was a timeline created for Menu IN with "Set as first play" and a link from End Action to the Menu. From the Play-button/Property/Transition a link to Menu OUT.
Here is the flowchart:
Case_1.jpg

The preview works ok but when I make a playback of a buil DVD Folder it stops after first transition

If I not use the Transition property for the Play button but instead connect Main OUT from the play-button Link and connect the video from the End Action from Main Out everything worked as it should
Here is the flowchart of Case 2:

.

It would be interesting if any of muvipix members to comment on what is wrong in Case 1.

Regards
Thomas

Mmm.. that's pretty advanced for me but gets me thinking. I'm loving the ease of use and flexibility of Encore but my usage is pretty basic, certainly by comparison. I imagine you've also posted over in the Adobe Encore forum and maybe Creative Cow....?

Have contacted Adobe Support requesting get over all my material from Encore and After Effects to get the same situation that I created, I have now got their answer:
You can´t link an avi file created in AE from Transition property in Encore because of errors in Encore CS4. It is fixed in CS5. The way to solve this problem is to create a timeline in Encore as I show i Case 2.

For your information

I think it's great when people take the trouble to post back like this. Even when no one was able to help Thomas he did something that may help someone later. =D>
