Sizing of still images for use in Premiere Pro editing

Postby elindsay » Fri Feb 03, 2012 5:08 am

I use Premiere Pro 5.5. I use format: AVCHD 1080i25(50i) Anamorphic for my editing (I have a Canon Legria Camera). My current stills are resized to 800x 600. When I insert in to the sequence and play it, they fall outside the safety margins. I read the Adobe help notes on this topic and resized (if memory serves I read 32,000x 32000 is ok) However, this didn't work. What size should I make the images? Many thanks Erika

For the stills to be usable in HD output something like 2200 x 1200 pixels should be OK as that will leave you with a bit of room for any panning and zooming.

For SD output stick with 1000 x 750 pixels.

If the resultant images still fall outside the range that you wish to use, select the image on the timeline then click on the Motion property in the Effect Controls and rescale as needed.
