Can we still NOT open a PE 9 project in CS 5.5?

Postby Matthew Max » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:02 am

It would save me SOOOOOO much work and hassle if Adobe has provided a patch to let me open PE 9 projects in CS 5.5, which I bought after I made the PE 9 projects. Anyone know for sure about a solution to this HASSLE?

If you "shared"/ouptut the projects in any of the usual ways, then PPro should be be able to open the files.

But if you are asking whether PPro can read the PREL files, I don't know but I don't think so. I do believe you would need to share them first.

Thanks, George. That's not what I want to hear, though. I'm only interested in opening project files.

I have always been able to open Premiere Elements projects in Premiere Pro with minor issues, up to CS5.
The changes in CS5 and 5.5 are so different that Elements and Pro are no longer similar enough, at least that's my thoughts. It could be that version 10, or maybe version 11 next year, will be able to import into CS5.5, we will have to test it out.

Even when the imports do work there are always things missing, transitions that don't match in both programs, effects that are in Elements but not Pro. Those kinds of things Premiere Pro doesn't know what to do with so there are always little things that need to be fixed. Best to do everything in one application if possible.
