hi-def mov files

Postby Jayell » Sat Oct 08, 2011 2:11 pm

It seems like using high-def mov files in Premiere CS5 r-e-a-l-l-y drags the system down. ALL my video is hi-def, but I only notice things slowing down when I add an mov file into the project (r-e-a-l-l-y slow to render). Is there some other hi-def format I can convert these into that Premiere might like better?
My computer specs below.

CS5 works well with HDV MPEG2. When I convert to HDV MPEG2 for working in CS5 I use a high bitrate (40MB/s) to try to maintain the quality after rendering.

And you do the conversion using ... Premiere?

My guess would be that the conversion is done with Adobe Media Encoder that comes with Premiere, yes.

The one thing I can suggest is to lower the resolution in your playback monitor. Right-click and choose Playback Resolution to 1/2 or the like.

Forgot all about that, Kevin. Thanks.
But I did discover that I'd had it set at 1/2.
