Mom did you try a different USB port on the machine sometimes that helps. Or, you could try a system restore to when the system was working properly with the printer

I tried a different USB port. Uninstall/reinstall 6x. Sent Epson an email.

Email from Epson

" Disconnect the usb cable.
Right-click or tap and hold , then select Control Panel> View devices and printers.
Right-click or tap and hold the icon for your printer, then select Cancel all documents. (If you don't see this option, please continue with the next step.).
Right-click or tap and hold the icon for your printer again and select Remove Device.
Click OK to confirm.
Once the printer icon is gone, power the printer back on and reconnect the USB cable.

Note: Once the printer is detected by your computer, it will automatically install the printer and the printer icon will be on your screen again.
Right-click or tap and hold the icon for your printer and select Set As Default Printer.
Try to print."

I tried an still no luck and sent email back. 2nd email from Epson

"Based on the information you provided, we recommend that you use a brand new USB 2.0 cable or use a known working USB cable."

Tried the different USB and no luck. I have a call to a friend that manages a large computer center for a fix or a comparable printer. The old printer I will hook up to my old build.

Wow, that's just crazy. Maybe if you jump up and down 4 times, turn to the right and turn to the left, put your right arm in and your left arm out...... oh wait, that's the hokey pokey not the Epson shuffle. It will probably get fixed eventually, my guess is a Windows update caused this problem and either Epson or Windows will fix it in a new update of either Windows or the printer driver. One last thought, what about the printer firmware, have you checked for an update?

Hi Chuck, yes I checked for an update first thing. Too funny on the Epson hokey pokey shuffle! :exc: The email said I could call them if the cable doesn't work. I don't know what else they could say or offer.

This is sure vexing.

You might try unplugging the printer and then uninstalling all the printers (select Control Panel> View devices and printers.) Turn our computer off for 2 minutes this will flush the ram. Power up the computer, Then before you plug the printer into AC press and hold the printer power button for 1 minute this will discharge the printer completely. power up the printer and wait until it is in ready state, then plug the Printer in via USB and . DO not install any software. The computer might automatically search and download the driver you need. Provided you are connected to the internet.

Fingers crossed.

If I follow correctly Sidd:

Uninstall the device (which is not showing in Device and Printers
Uninstall all of Epson software?
Turn off computer for 2 minutes
Unplug printer power & USB? Hold printer power button for 1 minute?
Turn on computer
Plug in printer power & USB

Wait to see if it found driver?

I had to download the software before to get it to work. So maybe do not Uninstall Epson above?

I am thinking that if the computer finds the driver on its own then do not install the software until you check to see if it finds the driver first.

Just a thought:
Is this a wireless printer?

I have an Epson printer and couldn't get it to print sometimes. It would go in a queue and then not print.

I finally realized that Windows 10 sees the printer as two separate devices:
XP-6000 and XP-6000 (network)

I had to make sure that I was choosing the right printer [XP-6000 for USB and XP-6000 (network) for wireless].

It is wireless, but using it with USB. I found another USB and tried that cord. No luck. Tried Sidd's steps and no luck. Went on Microsoft and was suggested to run the Troubleshooter. Did that and couldn't find the problem.

Sorry to hear about your problem with the printer.

I am afraid that I have nothing to add but I can certainly sense the frustration. :( :(

And the printer saga continues. Called Epson and he had me try several USB ports with the Device Mgr>USB drop down open. Each time it popped up as an error.

Hooked the printer up to my old build and still not luck. Tried a different cord and ports and still an error. The printer worked on the old build for many years and the Epson package/driver was still on that machine.

With all the trial and errors it appears it is with the printer.

I am looking for a new printer with a scanner. I mostly print on card stock for PS stuff. Photos I send out to a lab. I use the FAX a few times of year for insurance purposes, but I could mail instead. Looking at this printer:

Mom before you send it to the great printer in the sky have you tried to see if you can get it to print wireless? Might be worth a try.
