Certainly a beast of a machine.

PC Parts Picker (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b7R3Zf) prices the build at $1941.45 although that does include Windows home at $99.95 - which most system builders should get for less and no firewire card (allow about $35) so should even out. I've added a case too.

Notable points -
Water cooling - any reason for this? A reasonable tower cooler will probably do just fine unless you are seriously overclocking.
750 Watt power supply is probably overkill. You'd get probably easily get away with 600W.
The SSD is an 860 PRO. I'm note sure of the economy of the pro models. For the same money you could get a 1TB 970 EVO which would move large file around more easily and is around 7 times faster. This may help with 4K editing.
The graphics card is again a serious piece of work. If you can live 6GB of video memory and not having the RTX cores than something like a GTX 1660 Super would save you $250. Obviously this will depend on the requirements of any software you're looking to run on it.

You might consider an M.2 SSD drive to run all your programs.

M.2 SSDs are designed to enable high-performance storage in thin, power-constrained devices, They are generally smaller than mSATA SSDs, for which they are intended as an alternative. And they are really really fast.

I would also suggest an SSD drive instead to the 5400rpm drive. If this is tower computer you might have room for 2 1.5 SSD drives.

Thanks Chris & Sidd for the feedback. I did request a sturdy case, forgot to list Carbide 100R ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case

I also requested a good to better power source and a firewire. I may in the future grab old footage from tapes or dust off the old camcorders.

The 2nd drive I requested at least 2T in space. I have 2 externals that I move old video to and one being a copy. I shoot more photos these days, but want to start working in 4k video. I take a lot of personal photos and also shoot a lot of photos for family & friends. So say a group of photos for one sitting after editing easily hits 50 GB. Every few months or more I go back and delete the raw, the psd files and keep only the jpgs which cleans up the amount of space. Having a large 2nd drive I am then not rushed to keep the numbers down. Plus when I am gone will anyone want my raw files. I confess, I am a video hoarder :)

I requested a silent fan. Maybe why the water cooling choice?

Thanks Chis for the pc parts price. My bid stands at around $2177 plus tax. My last build is 7 years old and was around $1900. I am thinking this will be my last build and if it lasts 7 years too then the price per year looks good.

I do plan on trying to install AE CS6 and Pr Pro CS6. I'll have to go PS CC which will give me Light Room. Looks like Light Room has more controls than ACR. Hopefully at least Pr Pro will install or I may have to go CC route with that. I don't think I will go AE CC because of the subscription price. I may get DaVinci Resolve at a later date/year. Basing the build on future options.

I'll research this.

Thanks again for your feedback. Much appreciated!

That's OK for backup, but if you are using it for media, it would be better if you had a fast SSD.

I've been reading on the above suggestions. To clarify, my plan is to use one drive for programs and the 2nd drive for media. Should I get the 2nd drive the same as the first one but maybe a 2TB?

The price of a 2TB flash drive can get prohibitive. The cheapest I see on newegg is around $185 with the 860 pro at almost $500. If you went with the 1TB "system" drive you could move your project files over whilst you worked on them and move the result back afterwards. With a full windows and program install you're probably going to have 800+GB free. Getting a 7200 rather than a 5400 might make a difference for large file transfers if you're using it as an archive drive - the price difference for the 3TB is around $3. Or for $150 ish you could get an 8TB drive which even the most severe hoarder might struggle to fill. So many choices.

I swapped out the 2 drives and ended up with these:

SAMSUNG E 512GB 970PRO NVME M.2 SSD

SAMSUNG E 2TB 860 QVO 2.5SATA3SSD

This will get built sometime in December with delivery in January. My choice delivery date due to prior commitments and the holidays.

Thanks for all of the replies! Much appreciated!
