iRRITATED by audio resposnse in computer

Postby BuddyB » Fri Dec 09, 2016 12:50 pm

With the advent of Win10/64 audio has plagued me. Sound Forge will not record. It tells me "Wrong media type." I have a Creative SoundBlaster, and it's set to what you hear. I get no help from Magix so it's not likely I'll ever do SF again, or anything beyond Movie Studio Platinum 13. I think SF Audio Studio may not support that sound setup from Creative. If anyone here has an idea I would be most greatful.

Part two: I'm using Audacity and it records fine. However, I'm getting reverb like a mike is open somewhere. The Audacity mike is shut down when I'm recording something from my computer so that's not it. I wouldn't think anything else would be open because no other program is open at the time. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, BuddyB

I looked at the effects in Audacity and could not find a reverb effect so that theory is out. There is a 'echo' effect however, maybe that is checked? Other than that I would wait till the experts weigh in.

Audacity does have a very nice Reverb effect, screen shots below.

Buddy, You probably have the below checkbox checked, "Listen While Recording ..." the option says in parenthesis "Uncheck when recording Stereo Mix" which is the same as "what you hear".

Chuckie Baby! You done it, thanks bunches. The only issue I have now is LAME. I've downloaded two to three of what appears to be the right files and installed, but Audacity does not recognize it and when I go to export it tells me I need LAME. My Audacity version is 2.1.2. Again thank you for going to so much trouble.

Thanks Peru, been there and downloaded two or three items. Being a novice with Audacity it may be something I'm doing incorrectly..just haven't discovered what at this point.

You need to go into the preferences and tell Audacity where LAME is.

Ya' done it again Chuck..had been fighting this a couple of weeks. More importantly, you've pointed out the fact I need to "THINK." Everything you pointed out is logical, and it has been most helpful to me. Is Audacity your primary audio app? It seems to work well..and thanks again.

Glad it all worked out Buddy !

I use Audacity a lot, not my only audio app but is the first one I try every time. Audacity works very well for converting Vinyl to MP3. During Christmas time I run a small neighborhood FM station, 1/2 watt of power that covers about a square mile. I use audacity to record all commercials, PSAs and other announcements :)
