Need SSD recommendation

Postby momoffduty » Wed Aug 17, 2016 9:47 am

Currently have an i7-3770 SSD 223GB with 20GB free space. The past year it has been running close to the red space and I go in and delete things. It still tends to creep up. I do have my disc cache on a different drive. This is all program files.

Looking for a new SSD recommendation please

Per the thread below, Chris B has been using the Samsung 850 Evo and seems to be happy. Maybe he'll relate his experience. The 850 Evo and 850 Pro lines have both received excellent ratings in nearly every way. I bought the 850 Pro before the discussion simply because it had double the warranty (10 years) of the Evo, but in retrospect that may have been overkill for my use. It may outlive me, or at least its usefulness. The Pro has slightly better specs but I'm not sure that in the real world it would make any difference. I assume you're probably thinking of going to a ~500GB drive. Amazon has the 500GB Evo for $157.90 and the 512 GB Pro for $220.35. If I did it over again I'd save the money and get the Evo.

Thanks Dave the Muvipix topic link had lots of info. I didn't know that you do not want to defrag the SSD. I do this manually every few months. And yes looking for 500TB SSD.

That's may break the bank Cheryl. I'd consider a 500 GB instead.
