I find it interesting that just a few days after online purchase/download of Adobe PSE12 and PRE12, my credit card was hacked. Coincidence? I'm waiting on my new card now.

Well you did see the news article about adobe being hacked on Oct 03, 2013 didn't you? If they had your charge card info at that time then that's how you got took. Had you made any purchase from them prior to that date?

Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens all the time. It can be any company, not just Adobe. Even my bank was hacked and my number stolen. It's not limited to online purchases either. It can be captured at the point of sale or from hacking the company's database.
