Can't make new Folders, only Briefcases

I can't tell if I triggered this, but here-to-fore I've always been able to right click and hit new at the bottom and it would give the option for a new folder. Now all it gives me is the opp for creating a briefcase. Any thoughts on this appreciated. It's Windows7 Home Premium 64bit. Thanks

I assume that you are mousing over an existing folder and want to create another folder under that?

On my Windows7 Home Premium 64bit I do not get the right click option you mentioned. If I want a new folder I click on the new folder option on the top menu bar. Do you have that option?

OK, this morning I did some more checking on my system to see about the briefcase. It looks like you can create a briefcase folder (used to transfer files from laptop to desktop) when you right click on a library folder. It doesn't appear any other time. It will not appear when clicking on a folder within a library folder. So back to your original problem. I need to know exactly what folder you were right clicking on. If it was a library folder and you still don't get the new folder command then try to restore to a earlier time and see if that brings it back.

C:\Mainfolder/Moviefolder/Namefolder plus folder folder within the Moviefolder. I go in, click and highlight Namefolder. When I click New Folder at the top of the screen nothing happens. If I right click Moviefolder and select new it gives only the option for making a briefcase. I would have sworn that up until recently I was able to made additional folders from New, just like with older versions of win. It appears they've changed things, but now when I highlight Moviefolder and choose New Folder it just looks at me, and nothing happens.

Have you tried to do a restore to the time it was working?

I haven't but will go back a piece, thanks. The New Folder thing just doesn't seem to function at all.

If the restore doesn't fix it then a complete reinstall of your OS should fix it. There is a registry fix for this if you don't want to do the reinstall. Do a Google search on 'lost the new folder option' and you will see it. You are not the only one that has had that 'new folder' problem.

Well I tried all the work-a-round stuff, and nothing would work. Soooo..I relented and reinstalled, and now I can make folders; yay!

Sure glad you are up and running again. Did you have a lot programs to re-install also? The re-install OS thing is one of my most hated tasks as I have so many program that need to be reinstalled.
