Video Edit Sftwr Recommendation? (Color Bleeding)

Postby mabundis » Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:22 pm

I am a Mac user (MacBook Pro) currently using Final Cut Express - was looking at other options . . . thinking of upgrading to Final Cut Studio or trying Adobe Premier, or are there any other Mac applications I might need to look at.
Reason I am looking to upgrade is on file compression (h.264) I find that certain text colors bleed pretty badly, depending on the background I use. Thinking a better software package might improve this - naive?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Hi, mabundis. Welcome to the Muvipix community!

I would not expect that you'll get a higher quality encoder by upgrading to the Pro software. They all use pretty much the same encoders. However, within each encoder you can usually tinker with bit rate settings, resolution, etc. to control quality. Particularly when you're dealing with a codec as advanced as H.264, you can create a very small, low quality file or a BluRay quality hi-def file, depending on your settings.

But the short answer is that, no, you probably won't see an improvement in the "quality" of your output by upgrading your software.

How do you like that!? Muvipix just saved you about $1000!
