FCPX on a Macbook Air?

Postby Ron Hunter » Wed Apr 16, 2014 12:59 pm

Does anyone have experience editing with Final Cut Pro (X?) on a MacBook Air (i5 CPU)? I read some reviews that say it is possible but I'm not sure how well it would work.

Airs are built for portability, not power -- so that could well be the case. On the other hand, Final Cut Pro X makes amazing use of resources -- so I too would love to hear of anyone's real world experience.

Meantime, what are your hardware specs, and what model of camcorder is your video coming from?

Obviously your experience is going to be different if you're editing AVCHD as opposed to some pro format.

Thanks Steve. No pro stuff, just hobby. Cams include Rebel T4i and HDV Canon consumer cams (HV30, HFR400). Reviews I saw on web today indicate MBA editing with FCPX is definitely possible.
