Did you apply any stabilization to that footage?

None. I did speed up the footage as it was originally about 17 minutes long. The lane was normal width, but I did have to pass a few cars ( got scolded for that trick) so that the video would not look like I was in a caravan.

Very nice, although a bit unsettling to watch at that speed + the "center of the road" effect. I was impressed by the quality, smoothness, and the widescreen lens performed well. I've been in the S.D. Badlands several times and this was much more pleasant. The last time it was 103 degrees. :) It was about July 1 of 2000.

Thank you Dave. In retrospect, I should have panned around to capture more of the badlands and less of the road. In watching the video I get stuck watching the road too much. The other thing that I was unable to capture was how vast this area is. When I was driving I felt like I was an ant crawling among giant sand castles on the beach. Our time was limited so next time I need to pull over and get some panoramic shots from the various vistas.

I was surprised too by the smoothness. The center of the road did seem odd and passing seemed like you were going off road, but loved the video. Very inventive Sidd!

Why not use the monopod and extend the camera up through the sunroof? Might be a tad safer than riding in the back of a pickup truck.

Great idea Vernon, except I don't know anyone who has a sunroof.

Another slight variation I tried that works well is to have a dedicated driver and operate the camera from the passenger seat. I also recently purchased a stand alone 9 inch battery operated monitor.

I connected the monitor to the camera and placed the camera on the monopod outside the car. Now I can frame my shot without any guess work and having to redo anything.

Hi Sidd, what video connections does it have for connecting to the camcorder?

Hi Paul, it has an RCA connector (Yellow, Red & White) input.
