Failing to split clips by scene in Elements 7 and 8

Postby ChrisStross » Thu Feb 25, 2010 10:27 pm

Sony HDR-FX1000.

Capture doesn't display on the computer during capture though I checked that.

Capture doesn't split the clips by scene eveen thought that too is selected.

I deselected smart tagging when using Elements 7 and 8. When it was on it took over an hour to analyze an 8 minute clip, and in 8 didn't capture anything.

I tried Cyberlink Power Director 8, same problem.

The tiny little Aiptek GVS file I brought in via USB split the clips just fine.

I must b e doing something extremely stupid but can't for the life of me think what it is.

I have used earlier versions with a Canon GL1 without any problem

Someone please put me out of my misery!

Hi Chris, Welcome to Muvipix :wcm:

Premiere Elements does not split HDV by timecode, can't do it.
All of us use HDVSplit, a free HDV capture program that works flawlessly.

Give it a shot, I'm sure you will be very happy.
Importing the files into Premiere Elements is simple and they do not need rendering.
You can also see the preview with HDVSplit as well ;)

I am (in the English vernacular) utterly gobsmackted. How long have HDV Prosumer camcorders been available? At least a year. How on earth can Adobe sell me version 8 that doesn't fully support HDV? When it's supported by a freebie?

Anyway, thank you so much for your help, I thought I was going nuts!
