I am new at this and need help understanding whether I should download the PMB program that came with my camcorder. I am installing Premiere Elements 7 so I wonder if I need both.
Will appreciate your help.

Re: Sony HDR-XR500V's PMB, do I need it?Picture Motion Browser is a media file management system.
The Premiere Elements Organizer can do pretty much the same thing -- although PMB includes some basic editing features too. So there's probably no harm in having both. But I would think Premiere Elements does everything you'll need. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro

Re: Sony HDR-XR500V's PMB, do I need it?I use PMB for downloading the files to my hard drive, I then use Get Media to import them into PE7. Also PMB has a good cataloging feature and so I use it for a library of my clips. As the guys say it has a basic editing feature and you can convert the files to standard definition MPEG2. You can also burn AVCHD discs or standard definition DVDs. It also has an AVCHD player.
