Sony HDR-XR500V's PMB, do I need it?

Postby irispix » Tue May 19, 2009 9:23 am

I am new at this and need help understanding whether I should download the PMB program that came with my camcorder. I am installing Premiere Elements 7 so I wonder if I need both.
Will appreciate your help.

Picture Motion Browser is a media file management system.

The Premiere Elements Organizer can do pretty much the same thing -- although PMB includes some basic editing features too.

So there's probably no harm in having both. But I would think Premiere Elements does everything you'll need.

PMB will let you convert the AVCHD files to MPEG2, if your PC can't handle the raw AVCHD.

I use PMB for downloading the files to my hard drive, I then use Get Media to import them into PE7. Also PMB has a good cataloging feature and so I use it for a library of my clips. As the guys say it has a basic editing feature and you can convert the files to standard definition MPEG2. You can also burn AVCHD discs or standard definition DVDs. It also has an AVCHD player.
