I was looking at the two Canon video assist light offerings - VL-3 and VFL-1. Since those are somewhat generic and can be used on more than one camcorder, I wonder how much better they are than the built in light in the HV-30. The VFL-1 seems to be more of a traditional still flash and that seems to be its intended use and something I don't care about. The VL-3 seems cheap enough around $41 but since it uses the accessory shoe you can't use it with the DM-50 shotgun mic (that I just bought).
Anyone have any experience with the VL-3 and it is worth the $41 better than the built-in light?
Thanks...
