Re: Bye Bye HV30Hopefully, it will interface with Premiere Elements more like the HV30 and less like the HV20.
HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Bye Bye HV30I think you have that backwards Steve, the HV20 was great, the HV30 had problems.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Bye Bye HV30According to the reviews there is no real difference between the HV40 and the older HV30 and HV20. It uses the same CMOS sensor as the other two, just the introduction of a proper 24p mode. It shows how good the model is as they have made so few changes/additions.
Re: Bye Bye HV30Now they are going to call it a Legria. Brother - do I despise marketing departments!
A few improvements - to bump the price back up for another marketing cycle. -=Ken Jarstad=-

Re: Bye Bye HV30Legria - sounds like a voodoo spirit.
Yup, that's the product cycle for you. But at least I don't feel that my HV-30 has been left behind - still a great unit. Bobby (Bob Seidel)
Re: Bye Bye HV30How do they come up with these names? Phonetically? Do they just test market a bunch of syllables and see what people react to?
It's like calling a car the Chevy Citation. Isn't a Citation is a speeding ticket? HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Bye Bye HV30Yep, a citation is an official summons, i.e. a notice to appear. The other primary meanings are 1) a quoting of or reference to an authoritative source for substantiation and 2) a listing of facts such as in an official commendation for accomplishment or meritorious action.
None of those would seem apply to the Chevy. I think maybe they were refering to the 1948 Triple Crown winner. Or, maybe they were anticipating being sued for unsafe handling and braking, or the many recalls to come.
Re: Bye Bye HV30And don't forget the ill-fated Chevy Nova - No Va - No Go in Spanish.

Re: Bye Bye HV30There was also a car a few years ago called the Probe -- a name I used to think about every time I had my annual physical.
And Toyota had the Previa, a word most often associated with a medical condition in which the placenta blocks the birth canal. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Bye Bye HV30
Steve, according to one source, the word "allegria" is derived from the Spanish greeting, "happiness to all." Given the astronomical sales of the HV20 and HV30 (not to mention the SD1100 still camera plus a number of other products), Canon's people seem to have come to the conclusion that their company's products are providing precisely what the Spanish greeting suggests. Re: Bye Bye HV30That actually does make sense, George! At least it's not a completely random set of sounds.
