Chuck: Haven't been down to the Monterey Jazz Festival for a few years now but enjoyed it when I did go back about 1998. At one point I tried to get my band entered in the contest for the Monterey Blues Festival but we didn't make the cut. Now we don't play blues and I don't bother anymore. Maybe I'll get down again this year.

I lived in Monterey for a couple years when I was in the Army, I loved it there. That was when there was a Drive In Theater in Seaside and we use to get Fog Checks instead of Rain Checks. I lived on Pacific Avenue, one block up from Cannery Row in Monterey, use to go to Carmel on weekends sometimes and take the 7 mile drive. Once in awhile we would go up to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, that was the best roller coaster ever. That was 1976 and 77, haven't been back since but I am sure it is still as beautiful as always, and no more Fort Ord either.

It's still a beautiful place. I was stationed at Fort Ord for basic training and later for advanced training in 1966 and loved the area. I know what you mean about the fog. I especially liked Pacific Grove -- lovely little town off the beaten tourist path. I'm in Redwood City now, about 25 miles south of San Francisco. I rather be living on the coast. ;'D

Greg: I use PrE3 myself. The only times I've had to sync video and audio was when using multi camera shoots and bring the two together. For me it was a kind of trial and error thing. I looked for hand cues, a drum hit, anything that was in the frame I needed to sync. Then it was just nudge one way or the other until I got it in sync. It was easy but after some practice I started getting better at it. Good luck. Let me know if you have other questions.

OK, that's what I thought had to be done. For me it will be trial and error at first, but it's all fun. PE3 seems to be a great and (stable) program so far. Thanks for the quick reply!

I may be a bit late with this contribution but we use radio mics with our Panasonic NV-GS75 to record the referee during rugby matches. They are from http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/21418 (in the UK).
We are also bound by the frequency we can use but that is another matter for a differnt forum.
A bit of advice, if using it in an environment like a rugby match make sure the mic sensitivity is set to -30dB or lower otherwise you will get horrible distortion when s/he blows the whistle and 'shouts' his/her decision. Naturaly the receiver output should be set to -30dB if being connected to an external mic input on the camera.
Equally nice is the bonus of hearing the chit-chat between the players who are not aware of the mic sensitivity!
