2014 camcorders?

Postby don731 » Fri Feb 21, 2014 3:45 pm

With all the new camcorders being released, any guidance on a good unit for low light video shooting (primarily my miniature Disneyland...fiber optic fireworks included)? Would like $300-500 price range, mic and headphone jacks, AVCHD, tripod connector, good stabilization system, remote operation via wifi app or hardware remote. Realtime streaming via wifi to iPad or HDMI out to a monitor would be nice. I'm often at the computer which runs the layout, about 20 feet from where the camera would be on a tripod. Looked at the Canon HFR400, now going at a great closeout price of $199.

Cheers,
Don in Chicagoland

Those are great values, Don. I love mine.

But Sonys are better with low-light situations.

I love my HFR400. It doesn't have Wi-Fi but that wasn't a big deal for me; there are other members of that family that include Wi-Fi capability. I haven't done a lot of low light work with it so I can't really help you there. I did some filming from the passenger seat of a moving car at night, and the footage was good IMO. I can say the HFR400 is hard to beat for the money.
