Complete novice - downloading music to add to video?

Postby Louizalass » Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:45 am

Hi

What a wonderful website!

I am a complete novice and have only recently got to grips with my Premiere Elements 7 package but have successfully managed to put together a little video for youtube. The film is of a trip we did to Monument Valley in Arizona and I have found the perfect soundtrack to accompany it - Sacred Spirits Chants & Dances by Cesar Espinoza. I found the track on iMesh and have added it to my playlist (I mean my playlist on iMesh, not my computer).

However, I have absolutely no idea how to download the track to my computer's music file as I've never downloaded music before. iMesh only includes a button to add the track to your cell phone - and I don't even have one of those!

Can anyone help?

I think I know how to then add the music to the track (go to file/get media from/pc files & folders ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Louiza! Welcome to the friendliest, most helpful forum on the Web!

I'm not familiar with iMesh, so it's hard to say. The song also may have some copy protection software built into it, which could cause some other challenges.

From the iMesh page, it appears that the songs are downloaded free to your computer. If you right-click on a song listing on iMesh and select Properties, it should show you where on your computer the song is located.

Once you locate the song, it's not hard to add it to a Premiere Elements project (using Get Media/From Files and Folders). If the program shows an error when you try to add the song to your project, it means that it's copy-protected and you won't be able to use it.

What you have tried and what have your results been?

Thank you very much for your reply!

But as soon as I'd posted my query, I carried on searching for an answer and discovered a possible way to download the music I needed. There is a site (sorry, am not allowed to include it) where you can copy & paste the link to the video or music you want to convert and with a click of a couple of buttons, the music is converted to whatever format you need - eg MP3.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I went to youtube where I'd heard the original soundtrack and copied & pasted the link over and hey presto! I now have a soundtrack on my movie!

Spielberg better watch out!

Of course, with my (Canadian) lawyer hat on, Muvipix does not encourage, recommend or condone downloading any media - music or otherwise - in breach of applicable copyright laws.

Good point, Rusty. But iMesh does claim to release only fully licensed music.
