Removing machine hum from audio

Removing machine hum from audioI have some tape from a small camcorder where there is a noticable background noise which I think is coming from the camcorder. I am new to video editing and am not sure if there is an audio effect that could help reduce this noise. Can anyone out there offer some assistance? I have Steve Grisetti's Elements 7 book but the coverage on audio is not too extensive. I realize this is probably an art all to its own but can someone offer some suggestions as to what I might be able to do? If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to send a small clip that demonstrates the problem. thanks.
Re: Removing machine hum from audioHi Distant
There are a couple of options that may help. Premiere Elements has a few filters that may help and then there is the free tool Audacity as well. Audacity might be the best bet in this case, you can try checking out these instructions by forum member Ken http://videoinasnap.chuckengels.com/sou ... _11-05.htm You can download Audacity here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ It is a great tool, easy to use, has tons of features, and it is FREE Premiere Elements has a few options, the Notch Filter is one that may work. Making adjustments to the Dynamics effect may also provide some improvement, or using the EQ. Posting a small clip might be a good idea. 1. Re: Removing machine hum from audioThanks for your suggestions, Chuck. I'll followup your links and get something posted if I still can't figure this out.
