First full length comparison in encoding to mpeg

Postby AVITRY » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:11 pm

Thought I'd share in case anyone (like me) wondered just how much improvement would there be in a movie encoding from dv-avi to mpeg2 on different computer systems.

I did a 2 hr encoding to mpeg with all the same software ( including OS) on my 2 PCs. My P4 3ghz with 4 gigs memory ---> 1 hr, 55 minutes. My new build, and i5 2500k with 4 gigs ram ---> 40 min.

Nice! \:D/

That's three times faster. So you'll have less free time now, Joe, as you won't be waiting hours for the PC to finish. :???:
